chiropractic care for sciatica

Back pain is one of the most common complaints to the hospital emergency room. Almost all of us will have a bout of back pain at some point in our life. It’s not a matter of if; it is a matter of when. Once you have a bout of back pain, chances are in will not be your last. There are a lot of contributing factors to why and when you will experience back pain, but that is another blog for another day. Today I want to share with you four ways to help prevent back pain, or if you already experience back pain, how to get rid of it.

1. Stay flexible. There are many ways to stay flexible and I recommend doing a few of them on a weekly basis. The best way for your joints to stay fluid and flexible is through chiropractic adjustments. Seeing your chiropractor on a regular basis is an ideal way to keep back pain away. Regular stretching and exercise will keep the surrounding tendons and muscles nice and loose. The combination of joint mobility and loose muscles give your body the best chance to stay pain free.

2. Keeping your core tight. Core exercises are another way to keep back pain away. Core exercises are a very unique type of exercise that most people do not understand. No, it is not an AB workout. Your core muscles are a really deep set of muscles far inside your body that attach to your vertebrae. The only way to work this set of muscles is through balancing exercises. You can do them on a wobble board, a balance beam or anything else that makes you balance. Another way to work theses muscles is through yoga. If you have chronic back pain, yoga is one of the most important exercises for you.

3. The 3rd way to fend off back pain is by not sitting or standing all day long. The human body was meant to be up and down on a regular basis. So if you have a dreaded desk job, set a timer on your computer to go off every 30 minutes to make sure you get up off your butt and stretch. Go grab a drink of water, walk around the office or do anything that gets you up and moving. Sitting on an exercise ball for some parts of the day is another good idea to help out your back muscles and tendons. On the switch side, if your job entails you to be on your feet all day long, make sure you are getting ample down time to take the pressure of your back joints.
