How To Cure A Leaky Gut in Highlands Ranch CO
Is a leaky gut causing my low back pain?
With all the toxins in our food supply these days almost all of us have some form of a leaky gut. What this means is that our stomach and intestinal lining has worn down and we are not able to absorb vitamins and minerals as well as we should. To compound the situation, we also let bad substances into our body such as bacteria, viruses, toxins, and undigested food molecules that can cause reactions and inflammation within our body. There are a few easy steps you can follow to repair your leaky gut such as taking a high quality probiotic, supplementing with digestive enzymes before meals, staying away from sugar and wheat, and also juicing and/or steaming most of your food for a period of time while your leaky gut heals. One of the best ways to heal your leaky gut is to prepare homemade bone broth. It is a very simple strategy anyone of us can do at home.
When bone broth is prepared properly it has many health benefits. It is loaded with glucosamine and collagen which will help those aching joints as well as help restore and repair cartilage issues. It has key amino acids such as glutamine which is very essential to repair your intestinal lining. Think of glutamine as a fertilizer for your probiotics (healthy bacteria.) The more healthy bacteria you have in your intestinal lining, the odds are the bad bacteria will not be able to grow or multiply which reduces your chances of colds, flu’s and other infections. Bone broth will also contain calcium, phosphorous, and other minerals that are essential to healing leaky gut.
We think of bone broth as an ancient healing technique that are grandmothers used, but it has become very main stream over the past few years. Even Kobe Bryant swears by it and uses it has his pre-game meal. He believes it has been a major reason he has been able to play 20 years in the NBA. We have making bone broth in my house for the past couple years and not only do we love it, our little daughter cannot get enough of it. It is the new SuperFood that contains so many health enhancing ingredients that I call it the perfect meal. Below is an outline on how to make bone broth from chicken and/or beef bones along with some pictures from my last batch. If you are having any chronic health conditions such as a weakened immune system, weight loss struggles, or neck and back pain; homemade bone broth is a powerful tool that will definitely help.
The first step is to buy all natural-organic ingredients. When you are boiling your bone broth, you are leaching every nutrient out of those bones. You do not want to be leaching out any chemicals that may be in the bones of a conventionally raised animal. So make sure your chicken or beef bones are from an organically raised animal. Whole Foods in Highlands Ranch ensures their animals were never given any drugs or anti-biotics.
I usually do a whole chicken along with some cut-up beef bones for my broth. What you will do is put the entire chicken and beef bones into a big pot of water. Add a cup of apple cider vinegar and bring to a boil. Let simmer for about 2-3 hours or until you notice the meat is falling off the bone.
At this point, take the chicken out and pull all the meat off the bone. This is great protein to add on your salads or other recipes throughout the week. You can also add some of it back into your soup once your broth is complete.
Once all the meat is off the bones, simply throw all the bones back into the pot and let simmer for another 12-24 hours. The longer you simmer the more nutrient dense your broth is going to be. After you are done simmering, simply strain out all the bones and you have SuperFood broth. At this point you can add carrots, celery, herbs, onions, etc to make a very delicious and healthy meal. It is great for adults and kids will love it too.
This is just another easy and affordable strategy to help you take another step to your healthy goals. Feel free to email us any questions you may have. Let us know how your first batch turns out.
